About Ronald D. Brown

Ronald D. Brown is a corporate attorney with over 20 years of domestic and international experience.  Ronald focuses his practice on private equity transactions, asset and project finance transactions, joint ventures and general corporate legal work. He is the former founding partner of R. D. Brown & Associates LLC, a New York City based boutique corporate law firm.  His international experience includes on the ground experience in over 10 different African countries.
Ronald has represented private equity funds, private investors, portfolio companies and private companies in the structuring, negotiation and documenting of equity and debt financings as well as asset and project finance transactions in North America, Africa, Europe and elsewhere.  Ronald has experience in the structuring and negotiation of private equity investment transactions, portfolio company operating agreements and asset and project financing documentation of aircraft, power plants and other assets.
Ronald recently represented a South African private equity fund in its negotiation with the largest international company in its sector to form a joint venture to operate a US $500 million per year nationwide South African business.  He also managed end of sale-leaseback financing transactions for a Fortune 500 telecommunications company utilizing asset retention strategies that facilitated the client’s retention of a nationwide network of long distant fiber optic assets through lease-end acquisition or lease extension.   
Ronald has over 20 years of on the ground African commercial experience and African corporate legal experience, including project finance, privatization and regulatory African legal experience.  He is the former Chairman and CEO of a U.S.-based African manufacturing and sourcing company.
Ronald practiced law in New York City at leading Wall Street law firms such as Winthrop Stimson Putnam & Roberts (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman), Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander and Ferdon and LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae (a predecessor to Dewey & LeBoeuf). He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, his M.B.A. from New York University Graduate School of Business and his A. B. from Harvard College.
